Behind the chants of Freddie! on a sunny day in Los Angeles, Aaron Baddeley won the Northern Trust Open title at Riviera Country Club with a final-day score of two-under 69 and a four-day total of 12-under 272.

The fans were chanting for 51-year-old Fred Couples, who after a third birdie had taken a lead, and was attempting to become the oldest PGA Tour winner in more than 35 years.

Everybody was yelling, 'Freddie, Freddie, Freddie,' Baddeley said. I knew he was going to be the fan favorite, and no reason why he shouldn't.

The victory was 29-year-old American-Australian's first PGA Tour win in four years, and his third career PGA Tour title. Baddeley had fallen to No. 224 in the world, and now moves up to No. 73.

Baddeley fended off Vijay Singh, who finished second and turns 48 on Tuesday, for the two-shot victory, with Couples finishing tied for 7th place. American Kevin Na finished third, three strokes behind the winner.
