It’s been discovered recently that Bandai Namco has filed three new trademarks in Europe. One of the things that the video game developer requested to be trademarked is something called “Pac-Man Maker.”

The trademark filing was shared on NeoGAF by user “FelipeMGM” and was first reported by Nintendo Wire. Bandai Namco appears to have trademarked “Code Vein,” “Storm Wings” and “Pac-Man Maker.” The trademark application was submitted on April 18 and is currently being reviewed by the European Union. Destructoid was able to independently find the filing on EU’s Intellectual Property Office’s database.

Bandai Namco has already announced that it will be releasing a new vampire-themed RPG video game titled “Code Vein,” and it has even released a teaser trailer for it. More details about the game are expected to be announced on April 20. There’s no information as to exactly what “Storm Wings” is supposed to be.

As for the project called “Pac-Man Maker,” it has led to speculation that it might be a new “Pac-Man” game that will be similar to Nintendo’s “Super Mario Maker.” As a refresher, “Super Mario Maker” was released for the Wii U back in 2016. The game allowed users to create their own “Super Mario” levels.

Although a make-your-own “Pac-Man” level type of game sounds cool, there’s no guarantee that “Pac-Man Maker” is referring to video game that’s currently under development. Companies usually file trademarks to protect its IPs in case of future use, as pointed out by GameSpot.

Even if Bandai Namco is planning on releasing a new “Pac-Man” game, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it will be for a mainstream console like the Nintendo Switch. The last time Bandai Namco filed for a trademark that’s related to “Pac-Man” was “Pac-Man Wild Edition,” which turned out to be a slot machine for arcades.
