Ben Foster
Cast member Ben Foster arrives at the premiere of his film "The Mechanic" in Hollywood Reuters

29 year-old actor, Ben Foster, has been casted as John Gotti Jr. in the crime film "Gotti: In The Shadows of My Father." Also in the film is John Travolta, Al Pacino, Kelly Preston, and as rumored, Lindsay Lohan. The indie film is being produced by Fiore Films.

Pre-production for the film will begin in September, but shooting will actually commence in January in New York.

The actual John Gotti Jr., sold the rights to his life story to the film. It tells the narrative of how his father (played by Travolta) became the boss of the Gambino crime family. The film also details the relationship John Gotti had with his son. Eventually, Gotti Jr. becomes the boss of the crime family.

"Gotti" is being directed by Barry Levinston who also directed "Rain Man" and "Tin Men." He finds Foster to be a very promising actor. He described him as "one of the few young actors who can literary transform himself from role to role, from light comedy to a deadly gunslinger... I think he can bring something very memorable to the role of Gotti Jr."

Ben Foster is no stranger to film or television as he grew up in front of the camera. He was in the original Disney Channel series "Flash Foward" between 1996-1997. He also appeared on the NBC show "Freaks and Geeks." Foster made his feature film debut alongside Hilary Swank in "Kounterfeit" (1997). His first large role was landed in 2001 with the teen film "Get Over It," starring Kirsten Dunst, Sisqo, and Shane West. Foster can also be seen in "Alpha Dog" starring Emile Hirsch and Justin Timberlake, "X-Men: The Last Stand," 3:10 to Yuma," "The Messenger," HBO's "Six Feet Under," and much more.

We're excited to see Ben Foster show off his chops in this exciting crime film!
