The beta test for the upcoming free-to-play game “Fables Legends” has been delayed till spring 2016. Rather than fix any major bugs or issues that the game might be suffering from, the main reason for the delay was to add an additional 100,000 players to the game.

According to the game’s official website, the developers at Lionhead will be adding some new features, while also polishing up the game to make it look and play better. This is to ensure a better experience for the beta testers, who developers will be listening to when preparing for the game’s official release.

It seems like another reason for the game’s debut was the development team not anticipating how big the beta test would be, as noted by Gematsu. This is the main reason the game will be delayed till spring, so that more players can join in on the fun.

Spinning of from the other “Fables” games, this title will attempt to mix elements from various roleplaying games (RPG) and real-time strategy games (RTS). Even more ambitious is that the game will be multiplayer-centric, since the original series was single-player only.

“Fables Legends” was hyped as one of the premiere games for Windows 10, though it will also be coming to Xbox One. With the game being delayed again, it looks like fans with either platform will have to wait for quite a bit, since it still has no definitive release date.

Prior to the announcement, the beta for “Fables Legends” was supposed to come out during the holiday season. Those that reserved early for the beta will be given high priority as the first few players who will be able to try out the spinoff.

Additionally, now that the game has been delayed, players who are interested in the title can now sign up for the beta in the game’s official website. While fans still have to wait a bit, it seems like it will be a worthwhile one since the developers do want to make a good game.
