‘Big Bang Theory’
Will Amy (Mayim Bialik) wear a “Star Trek”-inspired uniform during her wedding in “Big Bang Theory” Season 11? CBS

“Big Bang Theory” Season 11 may or may not see Amy (Mayim Bialik) and Sheldon’s (Jim Parsons) wedding.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Steve Molaro said that even if Amy will say yes to Sheldon’s proposal, their actual wedding will not take place anytime soon. But Molaro revealed one detail that audiences should wait for with regards to the couple’s union. “Whether or not they’re wearing their ‘Star Trek’ uniforms,” he said.

“Star Trek” has been mentioned in the hit CBS sitcom multiple times. In Season 5, episode 3, “Star Trek: The Next Generation” star Wil Wheaton made an appearance in the show and tricked Sheldon into throwing a Mystic Warlords of Ka’a card during a tournament. In Season 6, episode 13, the cast of “Big Bang Theory” starred in a “Star Trek”-inspired installment, titled “The Bakersfield Expedition.” Sheldon, Leonard (Johnny Galecki), Raj (Kunal Nayyar) and Howard (Simon Helberg) tried to attend the Bakersfield Comic-Con in their “Star Trek” costumes.

Meanwhile, Molaro also spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about their plans for Amy and Sheldon in Season 11. According to the exec, they haven’t made a decision yet on whether or not Amy will say yes to Sheldon when he proposes. After all, Sheldon kissed another woman in the Season 10 finale, and he will most likely tell Amy about this in the premiere episode for Season 11.

“We were careful to keep Sheldon an innocent bystander in all this but another woman being the impetus? If I’m Amy, I’m not sure how I feel about that. She knows she loves Sheldon and he’s here in front of me… but it’s a really interesting situation,” he said.

But if there’s one thing Molaro is already sure of, it is that viewers will see Amy’s reaction to Sheldon’s proposal in Season 11, episode 1. “We’re just thinking about it now but, as a viewer, I’d feel cheated if I didn’t get to see Amy’s reaction! I don’t know what’s going to happen but any viewer would imagine she would [say yes] – but we, the audience, know what propelled him there,” he said.

“Big Bang Theory” Season 11 will premiere on CBS on Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. EDT.
