In the finale for Season 10, Sheldon Cooper (Parsons) proposed to his girlfriend, Amy (Mayim Bialik). The installment ended with a major cliffhanger so the premiere episode for Season 11 is expected to reveal Amy’s answer. Anything could go in the show because Amy, who is madly in love with Sheldon, previously ended their relationship. With this, Amy can say no to Sheldon’s proposal. On the other hand, Amy has been waiting for Sheldon to propose to her, and now that it has finally happened, it seems only right for Amy to say yes to her boyfriend.

While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter following the Season 10 finale, showrunner Steve Molaro explained their decision to finally write a proposal storyline for Sheldon. According to the exec, Amy’s decision to go to Princeton for three months encouraged Sheldon to seal the deal. “The week before the finale, Amy told him that she’s going to Princeton for at least three months and that helped him start to think about where he is in this relationship. That was already on his mind and then once we introduced another woman sniffing around, that helped crystalize things even further,” he said.

When asked if Amy will give a definite yes to Sheldon in the Season 11 premiere, Molaro said that they still don’t know what they’ll write for the character. “We’re just thinking about it now but, as a viewer, I’d feel cheated if I didn’t get to see Amy’s reaction. I don’t know what’s going to happen but any viewer would imagine she would – but we, the audience, know what propelled him there. It’s an interesting situation and I’m excited to see how it turns out,” he said.

“Big Bang Theory” Season 11 is expected to have 24 episodes like the previous installments.
