Many customers would still prefer discounts over free gift cards, while some others are expected to welcome the new gift card scheme. Reuters

As part of Black Friday’s one-day shopping event, Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) online stores in many European countries are offering discounted prices for a number of products, while several other countries, including the U.S., Australia and New Zealand, are getting bonus gift cards from the company, in place of discounts.

report from MacRumors suggests while some buyers may be pleased with the prospect of a free gift card, most would prefer a straight discount on Apple's products.
