The trailer for Season 1, episode 4 of “Blood Drive” shows Grace (Christina Ochoa) and Arthur’s (Alan Ritchson) arrival at Kane Hill mental asylum just in time for a twisted Halloween party. Ilze Kitshoff/Syfy

Grace (Christina Ochoa), along with her partner, Arthur (Alan Ritchson), is heading to a family reunion in Season 1, episode 4 of “Blood Drive.”

According to the synopsis for the episode, Grace and Arthur are going to take a dangerous detour to Kane Hill mental asylum to look for her missing sister, Anne (Meganne Young). But how exactly can the pair do that when they are technically competing in a race?

At the end of Season 1, episode 3, Grace made a secret deal with The Scholar (Darren Kent). She gave him a bottle of nitrous, and in exchange, asked him to get the bombs off her and Arthur’s necks so Slink (Colin Cunningham) won’t be able to blow their brains out once they attempt to rescue Anne. When The Scholar said that the bombs are tamperproof and impossible to take out, Grace instructed The Scholar to mess with Slick’s master control box instead so she and Arthur can accomplish their personal mission even for just four hours.

In the trailer for next week’s episode, both Grace and Arthur arrive at the mental asylum in one piece, suggesting that The Scholar has done his part of the deal. While the partners seemingly get to Kane Hill safely, the scary preview clip reveals that the two have to face a lot of lunacy to get out of it alive.

“In Crimson Halls of Kane Hill … madness reigns supreme,” the trailer’s narrator says. “The doctors have become patients and the patients have become the god. [In here,] insanity thrives and no one survives.”

At some point in the trailer, Anne tries to explain what’s happening in the asylum. “Patients were headed on Halloween, and now we’re the prisoners,” says Grace’s sister.

Clearly, episode 4’s insane asylum is just one of the many exciting things in store for fans in the remaining episodes of the season. In a recent interview with TVLine, series creator James Roland revealed that there a lot of other fun stuff coming up.

“We do our version of zombies, but they’re sex zombies — and I’m not going to tell you what that means until you see it,” Roland teased. “We do crazy Amazons, which is one of my favorite episodes. ... One is a weird, sci-fi, grindhouse Western. Episode 7 is actually a character piece, believe it or not! As much as our show can be a character piece, it totally is.”

“Blood Drive” airs every Wednesday at 10 p.m. EDT on Syfy. Watch the trailer for episode 4 below:
