Syfy has yet to renew “Blood Drive” for Season 2.

In a recent interview with TVLine, series star Christina Ochoa said that they haven’t heard any news yet about the show’s fate from the network. “I don’t know about a second season; everybody asks, but I don’t know,” Ochoa said. “We have no news, which we’re assuming is good news!”

But even if “Blood Drive” ends up being cancelled after Season 1, Ochoa — who plays Grace D’Argento on the show — thinks that the dystopian world that the series has established might still continue in some other form.

“With the way that things are going, and with the amount of different platforms, and given the support we’ve had from Syfy and UCP, I wouldn’t be surprised if there were something that kind of lends itself to continuing within that world,” the actress said. “But I speak for myself and I hope most of the cast when I say that that even if not for a whole second season, we would be honored and lucky to tackle these roles again — whether they take it the anthology route, or a movie, or a streaming thing.”

Roland revealed to TVLine back in June that he actually pitched three seasons of the show when he first reached out to Syfy about the project. “When I pitched the show, before John Hlavin signed on [as an executive producer] and when I was a nobody to them, I pitched three seasons,” Roland said. “I have a general idea for three more seasons, and then an offshoot of the brand — Midnight Grindhouse, with, like, crossover stuff. Totally, way ambitious pipe dream stuff. We have since fleshed out Season 2 quite a bit, and it’s even crazier, if you can believe that. Season 1 was just testing the waters!”

While fans may not see Ochoa reprise her role as Grace ever again after the Season 1 finale of “Blood Drive,” the actress’ followers won’t wait that long for her return to the small screen, as she’s set to make her debut as chopper pilot Nora Madani on CW’s new military drama “Valor” this October.
