Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have finally reached an agreement that their children will be their utmost priority after they decided to keep the details of their divorce under wraps. In addition, the estranged couple also released their first-ever joint statement since the divorce news broke last year.

Based on the joint statement released Monday night, Pitt and Jolie signed agreements to preserve their children’s right to privacy. According to E! News, the couple put on a “united front” amid their divorce and custody battle. “The parties and their counsel have signed agreements to preserve the privacy rights of their children and family by keeping all court documents confidential and engaging a private judge to make any necessary legal decisions and to facilitate the expeditious resolution of any remaining issues," Pitt and Jolie’s joined statement read, People quoted. "The parents are committed to act as a united front to effectuate recovery and reunification."

The joint statement came months after Jolie’s lawyers said the divorce petition was filed “for the health of the family.” Chicago Tribune also added that a hearing was scheduled on Jan. 17 for Pitt’s petition to seal the custody records of their case.

Pitt and Jolie’s divorce was so controversial that it even gained the international media attention. But what really made the case stir up controversy was the allegations that Pitt was abusive toward their eldest son. Fortunately, Pitt was cleared of any wrongdoing.

Meanwhile, the custody of their six children — 15-year-old Maddox , 13-year-old Pax, 11-year-old Zahara, 10-year-old Shiloh, 8-year-old Knox and Vivienne — was the main issue in the divorce. Currently, Pitt and Jolie have a voluntary temporary custody agreement, which grants the 53-year-old “Allied” star supervised visitation rights. Jolie, on the other hand, was given the primary physical custody of their children.

In other related news, Pitt recently got support from his Hollywood friends when he made a surprise appearance at the Golden Globes over the weekend. As per Daily Mail, Pitt introduced a video from the movie “Moonlight,” which he produced and had won best motion picture – drama. Due to Pitt’s rare sightings, fans took to social media to comment on his appearance.

Pitt and Jolie’s split shocked the world last year when the 41-year-old “By the Sea” star filed for divorce on Sept. 19, 2016. In November, Pitt was investigated by the FBI and the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services due to physical abuse claims.
