Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie may have had a bitter split but the exes have moved on from their allegations against each other and are now working together for the welfare of their six children.

Pitt told GQ Magazine in a recent interview that he has problems with alcohol and cigarettes, but he struggles more with the former. “I mean I stopped everything except boozing when I started my family,” said Jolie’s ex-husband. “But even this last year, you know—things I wasn't dealing with. I was boozing too much. It’s just become a problem.”

Fortunately, Pitt admitted his drinking issue and looked for a solution for it. “You know, I just started therapy. I love it, I love it. I went through two therapists to get to the right one,” Pitt said about being sober.

A source told Entertainment Tonight that the “Fight Club” star sought counseling to get sober instead of entering rehab in his own accord. “He made decisions for himself. Pitt has worked very hard to get his kids back and the whole family is in a much better place,” the insider added.

The good thing about this is Jolie’s cooperation. The “Maleficent” star wants the kids to have a good relationship with their father. So she is doing her part to make things more convenient for their children to be with Pitt.

Jolie bought a $25 million mansion that is two miles away from Pitt’s Los Feliz, California home. The “Changeling” actress wanted the kids to spend time with her and Pitt, so they moved closer to the “Allied” star’s residence.

“We are a family and we will always be a family, and we will get through this time and hopefully be a stronger family for it,” Jolie told BBC World News. After this announcement, the “Salt” star allowed Pitt to spend more time with their children.

This was not an easy decision for the mother of six, who never talked with Pitt for months after their split. In fact, the exes threw shades against each other. The “By the Sea” star did not only file for divorce but petitioned for sole custody for their six kids as well.

Although Pitt was allowed for supervised visits, the estranged couple did not talk. All the matters between them were processed by their assistants and lawyers until they decided to talk again.

“Things have calmed settled between Brad and Angelina. It’s not as tense as it had been,” a source told E! News. “They are focused on the kids and working to do what’s best for them.”

It’s been six months since Jolie filed for divorce and looking back, Pitt has some realizations. For him, his family will be his priority. “People on their deathbeds don’t talk about what they obtained or were awarded. They talk about their loved ones or their regrets—that seems to be the menu,” said the “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” star.

“I say that as someone who’s let the work take me away. Kids are so delicate. They absorb everything. They need to have their hand held and things explained. They need to be listened to. When I get in that busy work mode, I’m not hearing. I want to be better at that.”
