The sequel to “Bravely Default,” the critically acclaimed Nintendo 3DS role-playing game (RPG) from Square Enix, is coming to the West. Titled “Bravely Second,” the sequel has been available in Japan since April, but will finally reach the U.S. and Canada in 2016. The announcement of the game’s arrival to North America was made in a Nintendo Mini-Direct video, which can be seen below.

While several characters from the previous game will return, “Bravely Second” will feature an entirely new protagonist who serves under Agnes Oblige, one of the characters from the original game. According to Gematsu, Agnes gets kidnapped, so it’s up to the protagonist to rescue her, like Mario would.

Fans of the previous game will be happy to know that “Bravely Second” will still rely on the same job-based combat system, with strategic turn-based gameplay that made the original such a big hit, as reported by Polygon. What made the original game popular was its embracing of the genre traditions that usually happen in a Japanese RPG, but with enough new ideas to make the game feel fresh.

This being a sequel, fans can expect new jobs to give to their party members to ensure victory against the various foes. A report from Siliconera managed to uncover some of the new jobs, which include Tomajawk, Wizard, Exorcist, Chariot and the soon to be fan-favorite Cat Master. As expected, the Cat Master job was supposed to be a funny little joke for fans, but it ended up being one of the more powerful jobs in the game. More character jobs will probably be announced when the game’s release date draws closer.

It seems like “Bravely Second” will make an appearance at E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo scheduled for June 16-18 in Los Angeles. Other games and content that were shown in the Nintendo video include a new “Doctor Mario” game, “Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon” and new content for “Splatoon.”

“Bravely Second” will be a Nintendo 3DS exclusive.
