Dogs may be “man’s best friend,” but for one British woman, her canine was her lover.

Amanda Rodgers, a 47-year-old divorcee, married her female dog, Sheba, last week in a ceremony held in Croatia. The woman appeared on British television ITV “This Morning” to tell the story of their love affair and wedding, which was attended by over 200 people.

Rodgers said she got down on one knee to propose to the 4-year-old Jack Russell, and believed the dog’s wagging tail meant “yes.”

"She was two weeks old and she was new to the world — but I fell in love with her," Rodgers told the “This Morning” hosts. "I knew that we were meant to be."

Rodgers, who goes by @shebarodgers on Twitter, said the ceremony ended with a kiss to show the love she has with Sheba, who has been an excellent partner.

"Sheba had been in my life for years, making me laugh and comforting me when I was feeling low," she told the Metro. "I couldn't think of anything more I'd need from a life partner."

According to The Metro, before Rodgers found love with her dog, she married a man 20 years ago but the union folded quickly. Later, she realized that Sheba could be her partner.

"There are different kinds of love — my love for Sheba is very deep. We have a deep connection,” she said.

The Mirror reported that the four-year-old dog wears the pants in the relationship and once “made a man sleep in the dog bed for a whole week.”

“I am totally her b---h,” Rodgers said.

But at the end of the day, Rodgers knows the marriage isn’t recognized officially.

“I know the wedding to Sheba wasn’t real in the legal sense,” she told The Metro. “But it was a nice way to mark what Sheba means to me.”
