Six people were shot, two of them fatally, on Monday night during a funeral service outside a New York City church, according to reports. It was not clear how many people were involved in the shooting that was reportedly triggered by a dispute outside the church.

The incident reportedly took place outside the Emmanuel Church of God in Brooklyn's East Flatbush neighborhood. Authorities reportedly said that the victims included two women and four men. The two, who died in the incident, included a 40-year-old man who was shot in the stomach and a 44-year-old man who was shot in the chest, according to the Wall Street Journal. Police reportedly said an investigation into the shooting is underway and the motive was not immediately clear.

According to reports, no arrests have been made so far, but police are looking for a silver SUV, which was possibly used by three suspects, who were all men in their 20s.

Police said a total of 15 shots were fired both from outside and within the church, according to NBC New York.

City Councilman Jumaane Williams, whose district includes East Flatbush, told WABC-TV that the shooting was a "reckless" abandonment of life, adding that he hoped police can prevent retaliatory shootings.

“We wanna make sure that whoever did the shootings are held responsible,” Williams said, according to CBS News.
