ABC aired Bruce Jenner's highly anticipated sit-down with Diane Sawyer Friday night. During "Bruce Jenner: The Interview," the 65-year-old revealed that, as many media outlets have reported, he has struggled with his gender identity. While Jenner admitted that it has been a lifelong struggle, he claimed the biggest challenge was explaining his feelings to his 10 children.

Early in the interview, the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star and former Olympian said that he has "the soul of a female," adding that his "brain is much more female than male." Knowing this deep down, he was forced to try and explain these confusing feelings to his children, both biological kids and stepchildren. He told Sawyer that he chose to explain it to them in this way:

"God’s looking down making little Bruce, he’s looking down and he says what are we going to do with this one? Wait a second, we gotta give him something – everyone has stuff in his life to deal with," he shared. "Let's give him the soul of a female. Let's see how he deals with that."

Following that explanation, perhaps as a symbol of his new journey, Jenner took down his hair. "Let's take the d--n ponytail out," he told Sawyer, while shaking out his long brown hair.
