Carmelo Anthony explained why he chose No. 7 in a somewhat complicated answer.

In a post-game press conference, he said his number is a subtraction of No. 22, his number in high school, and No. 15, his number with Syracuse and the Nuggets.

But he said he wanted to wear No. 15, but couldn't talk Earl The Pearl Monroe from taking it out of retirement. (The number is also retired for Dick McGuire.)

Anthony also said his son is seven years old.

He didn't choose No. 30, his idol Bernard King's number, because he said the number was too big for him.
