Despite the boom in internet audiences and video-games sales, CBS said on Wednesday that broadcast television is still a viable business.

We continue to believe that good content and good story-telling makes good business. Network television still works, said Nina Tassler CBS' president of entertainment, according to Reuters. She said CBS' audience was up in the first half of the season despite the difficult economic times.

The network plans to do the same number of pilots in drama and comedies in the following year, Tassler said at a network's presentation for TV critics.

CBS is the most-watched network, it had nine of the top prime-time programs last week. Among its popular shows are CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Two and a Half Men and The Mentalist.
