The dress is gold and white. Or blue and black. Or ... we're not sure? The dress that launched a thousand debates sent social media into a tizzy this week as celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Ariana Grande and Kanye West and the rest of us tried to figure out if we were all color blind or if a dress that appeared to be different colors to different people had magical powers.

Pop star Taylor Swift, 25, was among the many asking what color was the dress? She told her Twitter followers: "I don't understand this odd dress debate and I feel like it's a trick somehow. I'm confused and scared. PS it's OBVIOUSLY BLUE AND BLACK." The madness started after Tumblr user swiked uploaded a photo of the dress Wednesday and asked: "Guys please help me -- is this dress white and gold, or blue and black? Me and my friends can't agree…"

Actress Anna Kendrick pondered: "If that's not White and Gold the universe is falling apart. Seriously what is happening????" While actress Kat Dennings chimed in: "THE DRESS IS WHITE AND GOLD and the fact that I don't see any black in it is making me NUTS." Actor James Franco came up with his own answer: "Dress controversy... VIOLET and BLACK! Obvs."
