The new installment of MTV’s “The Challenge” is officially in production. Unlike last season, which teamed up exes from “The Real World,” “Road Rules” and “Are You the One?” the upcoming season is rumored to star several of MTV’s biggest personalities alongside their family members.

The Ashley’s Reality Roundup reports that “The Challenge: Bloodlines” will be the theme of next season, an apparent knockoff of ABC’s “Survivor: Blood vs. Water." It’s unknown if the MTV stars will compete with their blood relatives on a team of two or go directly up against them.

Luckily for viewers, some familiar faces from last season will return for another round in “The Challenge.” Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio and his “The Challenge: Battle of the Exes 2” partner, Nany Gonzalez, will reportedly return after placing fourth in Season 26. Nany is said to be bringing her cousin Nicole on the show. “The Real World: Ex-plosion” rookie Jenna Compono will come back sans her original partner and ex-boyfriend, Jay Gotti, to compete with her cousin Brianna. Leroy Garrett, last season’s runner-up, will also return for another round.

Some “Challenge” veterans will reportedly join the cast as well. The Ashley Roundup shares that Camila Nakagawa, Cara Maria Sorbello, Aneesa Ferreira and Cohutta Grindstaff will star.

Noticeably absent from the list are last season’s winners, Sarah (Rice) Patterson and Jordan Wiseley. The pair walked away with first-place and $350,000 in the “Exes 2" finale. After the show wrapped, Sarah made it clear she would not return to the show because she was getting married, planning for children and finishing grad school. She married Landon Patterson in May.

The winner of this season's “The Challenge” remains to be seen. The new cast is rumored to have only recently started shooting in Switzerland, although the destination has not been confirmed. Of course, Johnny, who has secured five wins on the series since 2008, is a safe bet for this year’s winner. Let’s hope for Jenna’s sake she is able to pull out a win this time around. Fans will remember she was disqualified last season in the finale, after Jay refused to drink what appeared to be liquefied fish concoction, resulting in a barrage of hate tweets from her co-stars.
