EPL and London football giant Chelsea have agreed on the transfer terms with Spanish and European champion Barcelona over defensive midfielder Oriol Romeu and will confirm the player’s signing in the next 48 hours.

The Spanish U20 international has been under the radar of the Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas when he was the manager at the Portuguese club FC Porto.

Villas-Boas said last month that both the clubs had settled on a £5 million ($8 million) transfer fee that will see the 19-year-old move to the London club.

Romeu will be brought in as a substitute for the injured Michael Essien whose injury has been of little help for Chelsea next season plans.

Chelsea, reportedly, has also targeted AC Milan’s Brazilian striker Alexander Pato. Chelsea had put forward a £20 million ($33 million) transfer bid along with either Nicolas Anelka or Salomon Kalou, but the Brazilian wants to stay in Italy.

Pato said that he wants to respect the contract that he has with Milan till summer of 2014 before he moves on to another club, according to a Caughtoffside report.
