Forget autonomous technology and electric drivetrains – Chevrolet is going old-school with its new Camaro GT4.R, armed with a race-tuned 6.2 liter LT1 V8 mated to a six-speed sequential transmission delivering power to an Xtrac limited-slip differential. Power figures are not disclosed, but even a blind person will be able to figure out this car is fast – Chevy teased a sound bite of its V8 race car last month:

Developed with long-standing technical partner Pratt & Miller Engineering, the new Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R will also feature special Ohlins coilovers, Brembo brakes, as well as a new aero kit that will all work to keep the power in check.

The Chevy Camaro GT4.R will challenge the likes of Ford, Porsche, McLaren, Mercedes-AMG, and BMW in the Pirelli World Challenge and the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge GT4 class this year. Privateer Blackdog Speed Shop will field two Camaro GT4.Rs in the Pirelli World Challenge season opener at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg this weekend.
