NBC’s “Chicago Med” explored the subject of suicide in its most recent Season 2 episode. Dr. Jason Wheeler (Jurgen Hooper) jumped off of the hospital’s roof. His death sent shockwaves to the staff and each member dealt with the tragedy in their own way. Even though Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt) was available to counsel any staff member, no one came forward to avail his service.

What will happen next week on “Chicago Med”?

Tragedy often brings people closer. The promo of the upcoming episode shows Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) getting close to Dr. Natalie Manning (Torey DeVitto). Will’s girlfriend, Nina Shore (Patti Murin), walks in on them sharing an intimate hug. Are they getting back together? Natalie may be offering comfort to Will because he is faced with a difficult moral decision.

According to the official synopsis of Season 2, episode 18, Will’s former teacher, Dr. Bella Rowan (Jean Moran), is battling a life-threatening disease. Halstead fights to save his teacher but it looks like she doesn’t make it based on his expression before Manning gives him a much needed hug in the promo.

Meanwhile, Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell) and Dr. Bardovi (Shiri Aljadeff) will get involved in a sensitive situation. Rhodes disagrees with the father of a young patient about a risky surgical procedure.

Elsewhere in Gaffney Medical Center, Charles and Dr. Sarah Reese (Rachel DiPillo) will handle an unusual case with a pilot. This particular case causes Sarah to have memories of Wheeler’s suicide. She is certainly not over her colleague’s unexpected death.

Moreover, Maggie (Marlyne Barrett) takes an aggressive approach to training a new nurse in Season 2, episode 18, titled “Lesson Learned.”

“Chicago Med” Season 2 returns after a short hiatus on Thursday, March 30 at 9 p.m. EDT on NBC.
