Chinese Shoe Factory Collapse: 42 People Rescued, Others Still Missing: Report

Nine people remain unaccounted for after a shoe factory in Eastern China collapsed on Saturday, according to China Central Television news.

The collapse occured around 4:00 p.m. local time, and there were at least 51 people working inside when it happened. So far, 42 people have been rescued, reports CCTV. The factory was located in the Wenling City in China's Zhejiang province.

According to the BBC, Wengling City is an important hub for the footwear industry. The tourism office told the BBC that one in five shoes originate from this coastal city.
