During her interview on "The Kelly Clarkson Show," Chrissy Teigen urged everyone to help Asians by supporting their businesses amid a recent spike in hate crimes committed against them. The 35-year-old model also talked about how some politicians refer to the coronavirus as "the China virus."

"I think we just came out of a long line of politicians that put a target on Asian people's backs by calling it 'the China virus,'" Teigen said. "I automatically think of when my mom's without me, 'How do people look at her? How do people treat her?' A lot of mothers and fathers are being targeted around the country and it's so obvious what the motive is."

"If people can just reach out in any way to support the Asian-American community, APPI in general," Teigen told Kelly Clarkson. "There's Stop AAPI Hate, which is a wonderful organization to donate to and an organization called 18 Million Rising is really incredible."

Teigen further urged everyone to support local businesses owned by Asians. "It's little things like supporting Asian-owned businesses around you, supporting your local Chinatown," she said.

This is not the first time Teigen spoke out against hate crimes. Last month, the model took to Instagram to share the alarming stats of violence committed against Asian Americans in the last year. "Asian Americans are the third most racially targeted group following Black Americans and Jewish Americans," one of the images in the series of photo messages said.

In the caption, Teigen wrote, "As you've heard, Asian Americans have seen a huge spike in hate crimes since the start of COVID - it didn't help that the piece of s*** called it the China Virus any chance he could but I digress. @kimsaira and @annie_wu_22 have put together some amazing info: here's the why."

After explaining the stats, she posted another series of photo messages on how to be an ally of Asian Americans and help them in their fight against anti-Asian racism.

Just last Wednesday, Teigen announced that she was quitting Twitter which, according to her, had served her negatively

Many of her fans were unhappy with the decision. Meanwhile, some users shared screenshots of some of her old tweets.

Chrissy Teigen's full episode of "The Kelly Clarkson Show" will air Friday on NBC.
