What seemed like false speculation has apparently shifted to reality as Clint Dempsey is reportedly set to join Tottenham as the transfer deadline is in its dying hours.

Dempsey has been seen at Tottenham's training grounds, and a deal has apparently been struck, according to FOX Soccer. There are no reports of the fee that Fulham will receive, but it will likely be about £8 million.

The 29-year-old attacking midfielder has basically been on strike at Fulham, and he firmly stated that he is interested in playing in European club tournaments. By joining Spurs, Dempsey will get to compete in Europa League, and could also play in the 2013-2014 Champions League should Tottenham finish in the top four of the Premier League.

With the possible move to White Hart Lane, Dempsey gets to stay in London and will reunite with former U.S. National Team goalkeeper Brad Friedel.

Dempsey had previously been heavily linked to Liverpool, but the Reds apparently were haggling over a price for the American star.

Tottenham have had busy day. Spurs were linked to attacking midfielder Joao Moutinho, and some reports had the Portuguese star set to move to London for a £22 million fee. BBC reported that a deal was not in place.

Spurs have also reportedly added France National Team goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, and moved Rafael van der Vaart to Hamburg.
