A Florida woman was arrested on battery charges after she allegedly got into a fight with her husband over a used tampon.

Cortteza Liandra Sellers, 32, became enraged when her 17-year-old daughter left a used tampon on the floor of their home Thursday in Manatee County, Fla., and her husband asked her to talk to her daughter about it, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report obtained by the Smoking Gun.

“While discussing the unsanitary nature of leaving used tampons on the floor, the argument became heated,” the police report said. “During the course of the heated argument, the victim stated, it turned into a ‘shoving match.’ During this time the defendant scratched [her husband] on the left side of his face and on his left arm.”

A Manatee County sheriff’s deputy said he saw scratch marks on the husband and he was bleeding with “fresh” blood.

Sellers allegedly told cops that there was no physical altercation, and sheriff’s deputies said she did not suffer any injuries.

“The defendant was determined to be the primary aggressor and was arrested as a result without incident,” the report stated.

Sellers was booked into the Manatee County Jail on one charge of battery, a misdemeanor.

Sellers’ husband declined medical treatment at the scene and said no weapons were used during the alleged battery, according to the police report. The husband also said he didn’t want his wife arrested and refused to complete an affidavit in the case, authorities said.
