NEW DELHI (Commodity Online): Cotton arrivals in India's domestic markets registered 0.3% surge during October 1 to March 20 to 25.06 million bales, according to a data released by the Cotton Corporation of India on Monday.

As against the previous year, higher arrivals in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu markets helped to register a slight increase in the total arrivals.

Arrivals in Gujarat--the country's largest producing state--rose 19% to 8.10 million bales of 170 kilograms each, while Rajasthan arrivals climbed 42% to 1.03 million bales.

However, arrivals in the western state of Maharashtra--the country's second-largest producer--slumped about 15% to 5.30 million bales during the Oct. 1 to March 20 period, the data showed.

In the northern state of Punjab, arrivals fell nearly 15% to 1.38 million bales, while they declined 3.4% to 4.50 million bales in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh.

Daily arrivals in India were at around 150,000 bales as of March 20, unchanged from the previous week, the data showed.
