Reality TV star Courtney Stodden suffered a miscarriage and has lost her first child with husband Doug Hutchinson, her manager Gina Rodriguez revealed in a statement to People magazine Sunday. The couple announced the news of their first child together in May.

“It is with a heavy heart to inform you that last week Courtney Stodden suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage,” Rodriguez said. “Courtney and her husband, Doug, are at an emotional loss for words and are using this time to grieve with their close family and friends.

“Please respect their privacy as the couple try to cope with losing their precious baby and seek the support they both need,” the statement continued.

While announcing her pregnancy in May, the 21-year-old the "Big Brother (U.K.)" star said at the time that she felt “happy about [her pregnancy] but extremely overwhelmed.”

Since then Stodden has been sharing photos of her growing baby bump on social media.

On Saturday, Stodden wrote a message for her child on Twitter, saying “I love you my sweet angel,” followed by another post that read: “God is embracing you.”

Stodden made headlines in 2011 when, at age 16, she married Hutchison, an actor who was 34 years older.

Just over two years after her marriage the two legally got separated and later reconciled after nine months.

Stodden’s mother Krista Keller told People magazine at the time that her daughter “found out that she really, really loves Doug and he’s the one she wants to spend the rest of her life with.”
