Just days after her death, actor David Arquette took to Twitter on Friday to share a beautiful tweet about his late sister, Alexis Arquette.

The actor posted a photo of Alexis next to lyrics from the Rolling Stone’s song, “She’s a Rainbow.” “She’s like a rainbow,” Arquette wrote in his tweet, followed by lyrics that read: “She comes in colors. Everywhere she combs her hair. She’s like a rainbow.”

On the day of her passing, David also shared a photo of his sister. “Thank you all for your love and kind words about Alexis. My hero for eternity,” he wrote.

Alexis, an actress and activist, passed away on Sept. 11 at the age of 47. In a statement shared by her siblings David, Rosanna, Richmond and Patricia, the family said: “She fiercely lived her reality in a world where it is dangerous to be a trans person — a world largely unready to accept differences among human beings, and where there is still the ugliness of violence and hostility towards people that we may not understand.”

While the Arquette family has yet to reveal an official cause of death, it is believed that Alexis died from complications related to AIDS. According to a source for People, “The whole family rallied around her. And in the end they were always there to support her. Everyone knew [her death] was imminent. It was a matter of time.”

As a transgender actor, Alexis’ family said she refused to take roles that were offensive or stereotypical. The actress starred in such films as “Pulp Fiction,” “The Wedding Singer” and “Blended.”
