Syfy's “Defiance” returns Friday with an episode involving a walk down memory lane for Nolan and Irisa. Season 3, episode 5, titled "History Rhymes," is about Amanda and Doc Yewll's plea for the Omec to help them in saving Irisa and Nolan.

It will feature the characters Doc Ywell (Trenna Keating), Amanda Rosewater (Julie Benz), Joshua Nolan (Grant Bowler), Irisa Nyira (Stephanie Leonidas), Stahma Tarr (Jaime Murray), General Rahm Tak (Lee Tergesen) and Datak Tarr (Tony Curran).

"History Rhymes" follows events after the Season 3 episode "Dead Air." The previous episode featured an explosion at Votanis Collective that rocked Defiance. Plus, Nolan and Amanda got caught and were forced to cooperate with each other to escape captivity.

TV Guide reports that Irisa and Nolan are trapped in a dangeous tour of their own past. Doc Yewll and Amanda will team up with the Omec to save them. Meanwhile, Stahma and Datak will make a move against the Votanis Collective leader General Rahm Tak.

The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) provided a list of guest stars to appear in "History Rhymes." They include Rob Archer (Benedict), Bryan Edwards (Irathient Soldier), Amy Forsyth (Andina), Christopher Cordell (Irathi Soldier), Brett Ryan (J-Turk), Jake Manley (Young Josh Nolan), Jane McLean (Olfin Tennety), Mayko Nguyen (Volubela), Jessica Nichols (Geeze), Rebecca Goldman (9-year-old Irisa) and Kate Ross (Rebecca).

A preview video of this episode was posted on Television Promos’ YouTube channel. The video shows Stahma asking Datak to trust her. Meanwhile, Amanda will work frantically to protect both Irisa and Nolan from danger.

The "History Rhymes" episode airs at 8 p.m. EDT Friday on SyFy. The next episodes after "History Rhymes" are "Where the Apples Fell" (July 10); "The Beauty of Our Weapons" (July 17); "My Name Is Datak Tarr and I Have Come to Kill You" (July 24) and "Ostinato in White" (July 31).
