Vincent takes advantage of the police crackdown in this week’s episode of “The Deuce.”

According to the synopsis for Season 1, episode 6 of the HBO series, an end-of-the-year crackdown by the New York City Police Department (NYPD) in and around The Deuce gives Vincent (James Franco) an opportunity to staff his newly built massage parlor.

In the trailer for the episode, Vincent and his brother-in-law Bobby (Chris Bauer) meet with pimps Larry (Gbenga Akinnagbe), C.C. (Gary Carr), Reggie Love (Tariq Trotter) and Gentle Richie (Matthew James Ballinger) to offer them a deal.

“I got the parlor ready to go. [But] I need some girls,” Vincent tells the pimps in the video.

When Larry asks what they’re going to get for their women, Vincent tells them that it’s actually them who are going to pay him.

As revealed in the video, the NYPD plans to “spend the next two weeks making the 14th [street] uninhabitable to the whores of Times Square and the pimps.” So it seems that the pimps don’t have much choice but to consider Vincent’s offer.

“With the cops banging us up, it’s about to be the movies or the ho-house,” Larry tells one of his sex workers, Darlene (Dominique Fishback).

Meanwhile, Candy (Maggie Gyllenhaal) tries to persuade her adult-film director that she can do more than act.

“I’m making these films for a while now,” Candy tells the director who has given her a job as a porn star.

When the director asks what it is that she wants, the former sex worker says, “I wanna learn to do what you do.” And it seems that the director finally agrees to mentor Candy, as she’s seen working on a camera at some point in the trailer.

Elsewhere in the episode, Rudy (Michael Rispoli) witnesses an important court ruling on obscenity and enlists Frankie (also played by Franco) and Big Mike (Mustafa Shakir) to protect his interest in the peep shows. NYPD patrolman Alston (Lawrence Gilliard Jr.) continues to help Sandra (Natalie Paul) learn more about the sex trade in the city.

“The Deuce” Season 1, episode 6, titled “Why Me?,” airs on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 9 p.m. EDT on HBO. Watch the trailer for the episode below:
