Grueling revenge movie "The Revenant" emerged as the Oscar front-runner on Thursday (January 15), with 12 nominations, including best picture, best actor for Leonardo DiCaprio and best director for Mexico's Alejandro Inarritu. At the film's London premiere, DiCaprio said the nod from the Academy felt "great". DiCaprio applauded the Academy for recognizing the various departments involved in making the film and said he hoped the recognition would pave the way for similar films to be made in the future. The Oscars are chosen by the 6,000 members of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and will be handed out on February 28.
