DICE announces release date for Battlefield 3 at E3

Swedish game developer DICE has revealed the release date of their latest project Battlefield 3 as October 25 for PC, Xbox and PlayStation 3 platforms, a report said.

The company added that a multiplatform open beta version of the game will also be available in September.

The Swedish gaming studio also announced the release of Battelog, which is a socially oriented addition to the game that will help the players manage their friends' list, create their own squads and platoons and can even check out their game statistics. Battelog will be free and might prove to be a challenge for the Call of Duty Elite service which is a paid version.

Gamers have been provided with an option of pre-ordering Battlefield 3 for $59 which will come with the Karkland expansion and will include weapons, maps, vehicles and other unlockable bonus features, the CNET website reported.
