Perhaps you remember the “you can’t say 'bomb' on an airplane!” bit from the Ben Stiller movie “Meet the Parents.” Well, San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith apparently remembers that scene considering the way he yelled "bomb" at a Los Angeles International Airport terminal on Sunday. Smith was subsequently taken into custody, ESPN reported, and authorities said he was rather uncooperative before being brought to a LAPD station for booking.

TMZ revealed that the athlete seemed drunk at the time, according to law enforcement. But that’s certainly doesn’t seem to be an acceptable excuse for authorities or his team.

49ers general manager Trent Baalke issued this statement: "We are disappointed to learn of the incident today involving Aldon Smith. As this is a pending legal matter and we are still gathering the pertinent facts, we will have no further comment."

The disruption reportedly began when the NFL player, 24, was randomly selected for a secondary screening. According to TMZ, the athlete reportedly became "belligerent and uncooperative with the process and with the TSA agent making a comment indicating that he was in possession of a bomb before proceeding toward the gate area."

This arrest, however, is not Smith’s first run-in with the law. In 2013, he was charged with three counts of illegal possession of an assault weapon after a violent altercation at his home in San Joe, Cali., which resulted in Smith being stabbed. In 2012, the linebacker was arrested for DUI.

While Smith faces a serious charge that could potentially damage his career, Twitter couldn’t help but poke fun at the athlete for making the classic joke from “Meet the Parents.” Some of their quips have been posted below:
