Camila Cabello may no longer be in Fifth Harmony, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t reflect on her time in the group. Most recently, the “Crying in the Club” singer revealed that her exit from the group has allowed her to find herself through fashion.

During an interview with People, Cabello explained that she is relieved she no longer has to style her looks based off of what the group is expected to wear. “As a solo artist, I don’t have to worry about matching a group look, which can be quite challenging because you have to fit with everyone else,” she told the publication.

The 20-year-old who landed a gig with Guess in May now has the opportunity to express herself as an individual. “I think my style has evolved because I’ve evolved as a person,” she explained.

Cabello revealed that her definition of fashion doesn’t necessarily involve staying on trend. “I’m always growing and recreating myself, and because style is an expression of how you feel, my style has changed like I have,” she said.

“I’m more comfortable in my own skin now and I don’t feel like I have to do as much to feel good. I could wear jeans and a T-shirt with no makeup and feel just as good as when I’ve been in hair and makeup for two hours and wearing a fancy dress. It’s all about feeling comfortable and feeling like yourself,” the “I Have Questions” singer added.

Although Cabello may have fashion freedom, Fifth Harmony has managed to land on several best-dressed lists throughout their career. Their most recent fashion win was on Sunday night at the Teen Choice Awards.

The group was dressed in soft summer colors, showcasing a more grown up look, seemingly leaving their days of sequins behind them. “When I met with the girls, we wanted a new look, vibe and energy for their album release,” stylist Jessica Paster told Us Weekly.

In June, 5H member Normani Kordei told Vogue that she and her fellow group members have different opinions when it comes to fashion but manage to find a common ground that they are all comfortable with. “Our look has definitely evolved, and it’s given us the opportunity to find ourselves and know what we like and don’t like,” she explained.

Fifth Harmony has called on several stylists, including Johnny Wujek and Gigi Fernandez, to help them out when perfecting their look. When the group first came together, they were in their teens, but now that they are women, the ladies are searching for a more mature look.

“Now we’re trying to elevate, working with different stylists and their visions. When they’re with us daily, they get to know each of us, then we create something cohesive,” Dinah Jane Hansen explained to the publication.

Speaking of creating, Fifth Harmony’s self-titled, third studio album is set to hit shelves on Aug. 25. Meanwhile, Cabello is releasing new music from her debut solo album, “The Hurting, The Healing, The Loving.”

“I’m currently on a summer tour with Bruno Mars, and next, I will be putting out a few songs from my set that will also be part of my album,” she told People.

Cabello’s album is expected to be released in the fall.
