Former President Barack Obama on Wednesday delivered a blistering speech in Philadelphia at an in-person rally, his first for the 2020 presidential race, where he denounced President Donald Trump for not "helping anybody but himself."

The event was a powerful, gloves-off moment for the former president, who tore into his successor's four years in office.

During the drive-in rally at the South Philadelphia Sports Complex, Obama faulted Trump for his lack of response to the coronavirus pandemic, for encouraging racism, and for working to remove health care protections from Americans despite not offering them any alternatives. He also slammed Trump for constantly spreading conspiracy theories.

Obama wasted no time in pointing out Trump's shrinking TV ratings following his recent speeches and town hall, CNN reported.

"His TV ratings are down. So you know that upsets him. But the thing is, this is not a reality show, this is reality. And the rest of us have to live with the consequences of him proving himself incapable of taking the job seriously," Obama said.

"He hasn't shown any interest in doing the work or helping anybody but himself and his friends," Obama added.

Obama, who has continuously made efforts to encourage voters to turn out on Election Day, asked Americans to cast their votes for his former vice president. He also pleaded with voters to deliver Trump a defeat that he won't be able to contest.

While Biden is leading in national polls, he is underperforming among Black and Latino communities. The Democratic challenger also is facing difficulties while rallying for enthusiasm among young Americans, NBC News reported.

"We've got to turn out like never before. We cannot leave any doubt in this election," Obama said. "There were a whole bunch of polls last time. Didn't work out. Because a whole bunch of folks stayed at home, and got lazy and complacent. Not this time. Not in this election."

According to CBS News, Obama's evening speech was met by the muffled sounds of protest from Trump supporters demonstrating outside the sports complex. The ticketed event saw more than 200 attendees comprised of mostly Biden-Harris campaign volunteers.
