“Nashville” star Connie Britton had Twitter abuzz on Sunday night after she showed up on the red carpet for the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards show wearing a gorgeous aqua dress apparently reminiscent of the Ottoman Empire. The former “American Horror Story” starlet has been nominated for an Emmy in the outstanding lead actress category.
Britton wore a Fall 2013 Naeem Khan velvet dress, strapless and embroidered with gold detail. She reminded CocoPerez.com of “The Little Mermaid” with her mermaid shape accented by the color scheme, while Wet Paint wrote that her dress was inspired by the Ottoman Empire.
The Indian-born designer had also created dresses worn by A-list celebrities such as Beyonce, Brooke Shields, Luciana Barroso (Matt Damon’s wife) and even U.S. first lady Michelle Obama.
So how did Britton get in such awesome shape? The “Nashville” star revealed her secret just days before glamming up for the biggest night in television. The 46-year-old actress recently said she was juicing, via a diet that consists of generally only drinking fruit and vegetable juices.
Without any solid food in Britton’s diet, her Emmys 2013 appearance was the end result. But it doesn’t mean she enjoyed giving up chewing for nutrients: “It’s absolutely putrid. Juices for like, weeks,” she said recently on “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson,” as the Huffington Post reported. “Juices. Actually, I like juice. But not all the time!”
Britton showed off every inch of her curves by stepping into the midst of E News’ 360 GlamCam, with the results visible here.
As with many fashion choices at the Emmys 2013, some Twitter users loved Britton’s velvet ensemble, while others questioned whether she was wearing curtains. Check out some of their comments below:
