NEW YORK - Storage technology company Emulex Corp said its board unanimously rejected chipmaker Broadcom Corp $9.25-a-share offer as grossly inadequate.

Emulex advised shareholders not to tender their shares into Broadcom's offer or sign its consent cards.

Broadcom's $764 million bid for Emulex turned hostile earlier this month as the chipmaker took its offer directly to Emulex shareholders at the same price that the company had previously rejected. (Reporting by Ritsuko Ando, editing by Gerald E. McCormick)
