Early October saw the end of a month-long runway season, (in New York, London, Milan and Paris), that ordinarily would've focused on what will be available next spring. However, thanks in part to the role played by the Internet and social media in speeding up the process, consumers are increasingly desirous of buying items the moment they see them.

The fashion industry, at least in New York and London, has begun to respond. For a few seasons now, Burberry, has made some runway looks immediately available for purchase. This season they were not the only brand to invest in the 'See Now, Buy Now' trend.

Instead of following tradition and showing a collection that drops in stores starting in January of the following year, several designers joined Burberry and displayed looks that could be purchased and worn right away. They included Thakoon, Tommy x Gigi and Ralph Lauren in New York and Burberry and Tom Ford in London.

Themes included the military trend; either with parade jackets as a signature item, items rendered in olive drab and camouflage as a predominant print once again. Layering was a key styling element, especially with items in buffalo plaid and other menswear-inspired patterns.
