LeBron James in the 2012 Sprite Slam Dunk Contest?

That's what one NBA fan named Solomon from Portland, Ore.--and possibly thousands more--wanted to see this year, but won't be able to.

I don't want to see no rookies from Minnesota dunking it, said Solomon, referencing Minnesota Timberwolves rookie forward Derrick Williams, who will participate in the contest on Saturday in Orlando. I want to see you.

James has said that every year, he has been on the fence about joining the dunk contest. He actually committed at the 2009 dunk contest to participate in the 2010 edition, but never held the promise.

So, barring a last-minute, headstrong commitment, it looks like James will remain out of the field yet again, to the chagrin of Solomon and other James supporters.

Don't let my Saturday night go to waste, man, Solomon said. You always tweeting like 'don't let my Sunday go to waste.' Well, what about us man? Don't let my Saturday night go to a waste. C'mon.

The contest participants include Williams, New York Knicks rookie guard Iman Shumpert , Houston Rockets forward Chase Budinger and Indiana Pacers forward Paul George, all first-timers that Solomon seems to believe would pale in comparison to James and his dunking abilties.

So think about it, Solomon said. I don't know if it's too late for you to sign up. Do it for the fans, alright? Peace.
