Fans of Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez’s previous relationship are always quick to spot any interaction between the two. “Jelena,” as was once the former pair’s couple name, had a brief Instagram encounter that only the most eagle-eyed fans caught.

Former Disney Channel star, Moises Arias, known from “Hannah Montana” fame as Rico, shared a shirtless photo Saturday of Bieber on Instagram with the caption, “Thug Life.” Although Bieber’s face is not shown in the photo, Arias tagged him.

Fans were quick to spot Gomez’s like on the photo, according to Us Weekly, noting that she later un-liked the same photo. But it didn’t stop there. The “Rare” singer also liked another photo of Bieber, this one with herself in the picture as well. This photo was from one of the many “Jelena” fan accounts on Instagram that still exist today, years after the couple broke up for good in 2018.

Bieber and Gomez had what has now become an infamous on-again-off-again relationship from 2011 to 2014, during which the media and fans heavily publicized their love.

Lots of music from each artist was produced both during and after their relationship, and many believe both Gomez and Bieber wrote certain songs about each other like her “Lose You to Love Me,” his “Love Yourself,” and many of the singles included on Gomez’s latest album, “Rare,” which was released Jan. 10.

While these songs are all speculated to be about their relationship, Gomez did confirm to Ryan Seacrest on “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” that her 2014 song “The Heart Wants What It Wants” was indeed about Bieber, Billboard reported.

“I think the biggest problem I had this year -- even with [Justin] and on his side -- is identity. I was trying to figure out what I’m doing, and that was the first time I was constantly being kicked down for doing that,” Gomez said about her song at the time and how she wanted to explain her own side of the story.

“When I didn’t know, I just wanted to say, ‘This is what I want, this is where I am in my professional life, things changed in my personal life, things changed in my heart – everything,” she said.
