Firefighters have extinguished a fire at London's Olympic stadium after a van inside the facility caught fire. Witnesses of the incident, which occurred early Wednesday morning, had initially thought that the 500 million pound ($807 million) stadium itself was on fire.

The stadium, which is being restructured to be used as home field for the West Ham football club, is also getting a new roof worth 41 million pounds ($66 million).

"We were called at 7.03 to reports of a van on fire in the stadium. Security called us and there were no injuries," a spokeswoman for the London Fire Brigade, said, according to London Evening Standard.
