Floyd Mayweather has yet to officially announce the opponent for his next fight. Rumors are circulating, though, that the undefeated boxer has already decided who he’ll face in 2014.

Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated has been told that a Floyd Mayweather vs. Amir Khan bout is a “done deal.” Nothing has been confirmed, but an announcement could come next week.

On Sept. 14, Mayweather defeated Canelo Alvarez by majority decision. Since then, there has been much speculation about who the 36-year will step in the ring with next. Mayweather has four fights left on his deal with Showtime, and he has stated that he will fight in May and September of the upcoming year, just like he did in 2013.

Khan won’t say that the fight is a done deal. He has, however, expressed supreme confidence if the bout does take place.

“Well it’s a fight I’d love to have” Khan told Mannix. “That’s what I’m supposed to say, right? Floyd is the best fighter out there and you would love to see how you fight against the best. I’m not going to shy away from that fight. Styles make fights and I know for a fact that I will do better than most of the guys that he has fought. I’ll beat him. My speed and movement will give Floyd problems. I’m not taking any time off. I know that’s a fight that will change my life. That’s why I’m so focused on winning it.”

Many experts felt that Alvarez could give Mayweather his toughest challenge in years. Despite one judge ruling in favor of Alvarez, Mayweather won with ease, dominating most of the 12 rounds. After another masterful performance, it might be hard to convince the public that Khan has much of a chance. Mayweather would be an extremely heavy favorite. Even though the fight is not official, some sportsbooks have set Mayweather’s odds as high as 1/12.

Khan has won his last two fights, but there are still some that question whether or not he should fight Mayweather. Before his last two victories, he was defeated by Lamont Peterson and Danny Garcia.

There has been speculation that Garcia could fight Mayweather in the near future. Timothy Bradley has also been put on the list of potential opponents.
