On Wednesday a rare event happened with a president-elect meeting for lunch with 4 of his predecessors.

President-elect Barack Obama attended the lunch at the white house with four of the nations previous presidents. The ones present were George W. Bush, his father George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter.

White house occupant, president George W. Bush, reminded his predecessors and successor that the office transcends the individual.

All the gentlemen here understand both the pressures and possibilities of this office, Obama said. For me to have the opportunity to get advice, good counsel and fellowship with these individuals is extraordinary.

The president elect said, I just want to thank the president for hosting us.
