The popular gacha game "Genshin Impact" is slated to launch its anime series as its developer Hoyoverse announces its partnership with Japanese animation studio Ufotable.

While "Genshin Impact" has its army of insiders accurately leaking crucial details about the game ahead of its official announcement and release, no one has provided advance information about the upcoming anime series. In fact, the announcement, which took place on Friday afternoon, was a surprise to everyone, especially to the fandom.

"After a lot of painstaking work, we are happy to present you with this surprise on our anniversary and officially announce the animation collaboration project between Genshin Impact and Ufotable," Hoyoverse marketing chief Michael said during the Version 3.1 Special Programme stream. Without giving anything to spoil the new project, the marketing head also noted, "We hope you will be able to experience the animation project as soon as possible."

The team rolled out the first look and concept trailer of the anime series, which looks like it is in its early stages of development. The video, which runs for over three minutes, has no official title yet and is just referred to as "Long-Term Project Launch: Concept Trailer" at the moment.

The upcoming "Genshin Impact" anime series, is described as the "long-term collaboration project between Genshin Impact and Ufotable," but aside from that, no additional details were revealed. The trailer shows Aether and Lumine, the game's protagonists shown standing hand-in-hand.

Moreover, it features Mondstadt, the game's first playable region, with its familiar hills, statues and forests. There are also a few shots showing the plains of Liyue and the mountains of Dragonspine. The full "Genshin Impact" anime series concept trailer is available below.

Aside from the announcement the team made during the Version 3.1 Special Programme livestream, they also announced it on Twitter. "Let's step into this vast magical world of adventure together! The long-term collaboration project between Genshin Impact and ufotable has begun," the tweet read.

"Genshin Impact" was officially released on September 28, 2020, which means this month, it is celebrating its second anniversary. The gacha game has more than 21 million registered players and 63,301,146 Average Monthly Players over the last 30 days as per data from activeplayer.

"Genshin Impact" is currently playable on PC, PlayStation 4, PS, iOS and Android devices.
