George Clooney's face is on the new poster of his upcoming film, "The Ides of March." So is Ryan Gosling's.

The eerie mesh is the first official poster of the Columbia Pictures political drama, which is loosely based on the Broadway play "Farragut North."

Clooney, who doubles as the film's director, plays a hungry presidential candidate from Ohio who places his campaign, complete with scandalous events, in the hands of Gosling, who plays a young press secretary.

Marisa Tomei, Paul Giamatti and Philip Seymour Hoffman also star in the film, which will make its debut at the Venice International Film Festival in August before making a wider release in October.

Clooney recently went on the record to say he traveled to Sudan for charity work after winning an Oscar for the 2005 film "Syriana" because Hollywood had made him feel "unclean."
