China remains the biggest growth market for German luxury car brands, according to data released on Wednesday from Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi.

For the month of April, Mercedes-Benz brand sales hit a record after rising by 100 percent to 11,300 vehicles.

BMW meanwhile reported group sales, which include its Mini and Rolls-Royce brands, that showed volumes growing by 115 percent to 12,440 vehicles last month.

Audi, the largest luxury brand in China, increased sales by 61 percent to 19,606 vehicles.

The VW unit sold over 71,000 vehicles in the four months through April, a growth of 73 percent.

By comparison Mercedes doubled their sales in the same period but could only sell half as many at 35,400 vehicles.
