There were 22 tornadoes to touch down in several Midwest states Tuesday.

A potential tornado hit Goodman, Missouri, on Tuesday that left its fire department and elementary school damaged. Mayor Greg Richmond said that the unconfirmed tornado hit Goodman around 7:30 p.m. EDT, which destroyed the fire station and Goodman elementary school, however, no one was inside any of the buildings at the time of the destruction, local reports said.

Among the other damaged properties was one apartment complex. Pictures of damaged cars and homes also have been shared by people on social media.

Gregg Sweeten, McDonald County Emergency Management director, said that an emergency shelter had been set up at the New-Mac Community Room in Anderson as there were residential damages as well. People were being sent to the shelter and relatives were also directed to Anderson, not Goodman, a local daily reported.

Richmond said that there has been one report of a person with a broken leg till now. In order to check on the safety of the residents in Goodman, crews went door-to-door, according to the McDonald County emergency manager, 4029tv, an ABC affiliate, reported.

New-Mac Electric Cooperative, which supplies electricity to five counties in the southwest corner of Missouri, posted in its Twitter page that it was working to restore power soon in the tornado-affected places in Goodman.

School and other activities in the area scheduled for Wednesday have all been called off and mayor of the nearby Anderson city asked his residents to conserve water as there was no power in Goodman after the potential tornado hit and it might not come back till some time, according to Fox 23.

McDonald County Emergency Management Agency discouraged people from entering Goodman.

Minor damage was also reported at the airport in Neosho, another southwest Missouri town, local reports said.
