A new app for Google Chromecast, Google’s device that plugs into televisions and allows users to stream content from their mobile device, brings the first-ever game to the experimental new platform.

Before you get too excited, the app is really just a digital version of tic- tac-toe for Android and iOS mobile devices. But it does allow for two players to play head-to-head on their own devices, showing some possibilities for future apps. It also proves that app developers are serious about developing for the Chromecast platform.

Tic Tac Toe 1
Two players can join using their Android of iOS devices and play tic tac toe on their TV via Chromecast. Google Play
Tic Tac Toe 2
The app streams from the mobile device to the television via the Chromecast HDMI dongle. Google Play
Tic Tac Toe 3
Both players can play in Tic Tac Toe. Google Play

This is especially exciting considering that the Google Cast API is still in beta. When the full version comes out, it seems obvious that Chromecast will support much more than just video and music streaming.

The app is available now for free from the Google Play and Apple iTunes app stores.
