The villains of “Gotham” are taking their sweet time to appear on the show’s fourth season, and Solomon Grundy (Drew Powell), formerly known as gangster Butch Gilzean, is no exception.

Fans of the Fox show are excited to see the zombie in action, but “Gotham” co-executive producer Bryan Wynbrandt said they have to exercise just a bit more patience because the villain is slated to appear in the episode entitled “A Dark Knight: The Blade’s Path” on Oct. 19.

“He is two episodes away,” Wynbrandt told Comic Book. “We’re really banking a lot on the Grundy [this season]. He comes in episode five.”

Wynbrandt cannot wait for the show to run its version of the zombie, who will be quite different from his comic book counterpart. “It’s got that Frankenstein-esk story to it. We are different from the comics in which Grundy's appearances came of Cyrus Gold character,” Wynbrandt revealed. “We have Butch Gilzean who at the end of last season, we teased that his first name was Cyrus Gold which was obviously a nod to Grundy. Cyrus Gold has a cannon of its own that’s different from Gilzean. We really were looking at this as Butch Gilzean becoming Grundy.”

Wynbrandt also said that it would be interesting to watch Grundy interact with people he used to know before, more specifically Tabitha Galavan (Jessica Lucas). “What’s great is now that Grundy’s back in the world, there are people who know him as Butch Gilzean. There’s a very interesting dynamic to play when he crosses with our core characters and they don't know that he’s this new character, this new canonical villain,” he added.

Earlier, Powell said that Butch isn’t going to go away completely despite his transformation, since “there’s going to be a lot of Butch still in Grundy.” However, he will forget his old grudge with Ed Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) because the two are going to form this unexpected alliance with Dr. Leslie “Lee” Thompkins.

Co-executive producer John Stephens told Cinema Blend, “[Butch] doesn’t remember that he wants to rip his head off. And Ed, who is suffering the effects of being frozen for three months, needs Grundy’s help to get strong again. The three of them form this weird little family.”

“Gotham” Season 4 airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. EDT on Fox.
